We prioritize grouping experience over age, but understand that both aspects (age and experience) play into whether a class is a good fit for a particular student.
On the 1st day of camps, we evaluate all students and if necessary make recommendations to parents/guardians on what class will produce the optimal experience for a given student.
If there is no preference chosen, we will typically group 1st/2nd grade students in Level 50, 3rd/4th grade students in Level 100, 5th/6th grade students in Level 200 and 7th/8th grade students in Level 300.
Camp Directors always have a teaching credential and relevant, recent experience working in a classroom environment. We prioritize that all of our instructors have a teaching credential, a bachelor’s degree (in Math, Science, or Education) and/or have demonstrated significant skill in relevant teaching activities. Camp Counselors are typically Freshman/Sophomore College Students. Our CEO & head curriculum designer, Dr. Korey Sewell, has a doctoral degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Michigan.
A full refund due to cancellation for virtual camps is 2-weeks from the start date of the camp, while for in-person camps we require 1-week of advance notice to receive a full refund. If cancellation occurs after the minimum cancellation period, then a prorated refund will be given to the customer (assuming the 1st day of camp is the start of the cancellation period). Customers may also reschedule to a future camp in lieu of a refund and opt to receive 50% of their registration credit for the rescheduling. Shipping fees are not refundable if items have already been sent out to a customer. Rescheduling done before the 2-week period (for virtual camps) and 1-week period (for in-person camps) will not incur any charges. Initiate any rescheduling or cancellations through an email to support@hands-on-mobile.com.
